Happy, happy SUNDAY– I mean, Tuesday. Of course. Time is relative, isn’t it? This is all in your head. Do not panic. Do not panic. The time is 11:11 p.m.
Just imagine this is Sunday and it’s the weekend where you can cavort as much as you wanted. Or maybe imagine it’s Friday. EITHER WAY. Busy, busy, busy! We all should have a vacation.
Welcome back! It’s been a steady week in the world of Secrets, and quite a few things to report regardless. Be on the look out for episode 46 of the Secret Podcast here! We were all completely awake for this, I promise.
Other than that, this week’s column will go over a few special things, (a) The Streaming Ones Episode 18, (b) Beyond the Veil Podcast Episode 176, (c) Interview with Gridstream, (d) Updates on the TSW Phone Application, (e) Weekly Occurrences and more!
The Streaming One’s episode 18 seemed to be a fiery one this week.
The Dragon faction was overviewed with much appreciation from Tilty, Scrivnomancer and CM Andy Benditt.
They seemed to have Til-TEASED us QUITE A BIT.
Unfortunately I sorely missed most of this due to IRL work but the amazing Auroris wrote up an article for us!
The next Streaming Ones episode 19 will be on March 11th, 2016. Perhaps they will cover the Templars – but I have a feeling they might cover Issue 14 instead.
Beyond the Veil episode 176 was an interesting one.
Joining us on the panel was Jagour, Gryph, Azagthor, Antida and Xander.
We had a bit of technical difficulties halfway through, but managed to successfully deliver the interview that we conducted with Andy Benditt two weeks ago.
I do recommend listening to the remastered episode if you would like insight to our quirky new Community Manager and what he does for Funcom!
Next up, our interview with Gridstream! The lovely Lia Lester was available to give us an out-of-character interview and overview of the productions.
Q: Can you tell us how long GridStream has been around & when did they first set up in TSW?
A: GSP has been around for almost 14 years – the station will turn 14 on May 18th. GSP started out in Anarchy Online (Funcom’s first MMORPG – GSP still broadcasts there) – one of the first internet radio stations to be broadcast out of a game. GSP officially started its station in TSW in August of 2012 under Ashval – most of you know him as Trevalin. He was the former Director of GSP for several years and some of us had inspired him to bring a sister station to GSP (running under the same banner) to TSW. We merged those two stations because we ran into the problem of splitting our audience – they wanted to listen to both game DJs. So, we now broadcast out of both games on the same station – one big happy Funcom Community!
Q: How many DJs currently run shows and how would you feel about aspiring DJs wanting to be a part of the GridStream family?
A: We’d love for aspiring DJs to consider GridStream as a home! We’ve an application setup that will walk you through the necessary skillset/tech requirements in order to DJ and a staff of people to help you through that process. As to how many DJs we currently have: We currently have twelve active DJs across Anarchy Online and The Secret World.
TSW-RP: Lia (Iolanthe), Daydreaming, Nicksa, DJ-Azuca (who has a non-regular show right now)
TSW OOC: New DJ, Daddyles (non-regular show right now)… Kriegshammer and Sunserro who broadcast out of both TSW and AO when they go live.
AO: Dharzee, Shigy (our station owner), Joanwilder, Kermie, & Gemmikins (non-regular show right now)
Q: How is the ease of use when it comes to equipment when DJing with the GridStream broadcast system?
A: It is pretty easy, given your rig meets the technical requirement. It isn’t even that steep of a tech angle to it and I’ve seen our tech gurus / training officers come up with some pretty effective solutions to systems that didn’t seem broadcast ready for whatever reason.
Q: We’ve seen Gridstream host / run contests in the past, will there be any upcoming ones in the future?
A: Yes! The screenshot contests seem to be pretty popular as well as our other themed events – caption this and the like. We look forward to getting this back on track in 2016. I can’t give you specifics right now as they are in planning stages, but contests will be happening again.
Q: Would there be anything you’d like to tell the TSW community about GridStream that most people don’t probably know?
A: Well, there’s a lot to say, but mostly: do you have an event you’d like to have covered – in game birthday party, wedding, engagement party, bachelor(ette) party, demonic summoning, mixer… basically, anything you can think of? Do you have a collaborative idea you’d need some promotional talent to make happen? Do you have an event that you’d like to advertise? Basically, we’d be happy to come up with an entertainment solution for you – working with you to create something tailored to what you need – be it an advertisement, PSA… really, the imagination is the limit here. So, reach out to us – either on twitter with the various DJ handles (@HerVioletEyes, @Fleetwood_Smack, @DJDaydreaming OR directly to the GSP twitter account: @gridstream) or you could drop a contact notice on our site via the contact form: http://www.gridstream.org ) – we’d love to hear from you!
You heard it, folks! The amazing people at Gridstream are here to help bring you your musical wishes. Thank you again, Lia, for the interview!
Also! There have been several updates to the Secret World phone application that is being developed by player Distance and Blue Sun Initiative Team!
“TSW Mobile Project Update: We have an internal prototype application now operating. It’s in its infancy but has some COOL features!” – Distance.
You can look at a very rough “pre-alpha” interface here that I tried to look up on IOS at least:
*NOTE: THIS WILL LOOK DIFFERENT IN ANDROID CAUSE I HAD AN IOS!
Again, it’s being developed on Android but hopefully when the ball gets rolling faster we can have it on IOS. But this shows that our work has been picked up and will continue!
Which reminds me I have several faction messages to write – Or if interested, if you would like to participate in development of the Application please contact myself or Distance.
Lastly! There has been quite a few community events to report on.
- Several streamers are returning to their #TSW posts which is excellent. Welcome back new and old!
- Just a reminder that Tipsutin will be hosting the charity for Endometriosis on March 19th, 2016.
- The Vicious Valentine’s Contest has ended and the winners will be posted up soon(tm) on the forums and on the website.
- The current Saints & Sinners Song Contest is over and will start back up in the coming week! Congratulations winners Nysha and Lia!
- There is a new survey up for anyone to take, focusing on the TSW community consensus. The Survey will be open until March 31st, 2016 and can be found here.
- What’s going on with the Buzzing and the ARG? I wonder who will be able to fit the pieces together to solve the puzzle! “Witness: It Who Gnaws Its Name Below.” Another name to the Lesser Keys to Solomon? What do we have in store? The fate of Agartha hangs in the balance!
That’s it for now! Stay tuned for Next “Sunday’s” Column. If you have any updates you would like to give The Secret Podcast or myself, please send me a message at GinSynrio@Gmail.com or over twitter at @Djinngi.
